JOB PURPOSE
Responsible for overseeing the training and administrative duties related to drivers. Ensure that drivers are well-trained, compliant with industry regulations, and equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform their duties effectively and safely. Additionally responsible for maintaining driver records, assisting with scheduling, and supporting other administrative tasks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Driver Training:
o Conduct orientation sessions to ensure drivers are familiar with company policies, safety protocols, and operational procedures.
o Provide ongoing training and refresher courses to keep drivers updated on standards, regulations, and company expectations.
· Administrative Support:
- Maintain accurate driver reconciliation lists and assist with relevant administrative tasks.
- Ensure that all drivers are compliant with state and local transportation regulations, including vehicle inspection requirements.
- Each vehicle must have a designated driver assigned. Allocation of drivers should consider years of service and fleet numbers.
- PDP’s must be renewed at least 90 days before the expiry date.
- Vehicles fitted with cross-border permits must be driven by drivers in possession of a valid passport and a valid PDP.
- The Johannesburg (JHB) branch must always have a spare driver available on a daily basis. In addition, at least two on-site shunters must be available at HST JHB every weekend, starting from Friday afternoons at 3:00 PM.
- PDP’s tags and driver wage tags must be placed and recorded correctly.
- Drivers’ problems and requests must be submitted in writing on the board to the Fleet Controller. This ensures that matters such as medicals, sector appointments, renewal of driver licenses, and leave (including special events such as weddings) are scheduled properly. Drivers must also complete a full vehicle inspection during the required four-week training period.

JOB PURPOSE:
The main purpose of the job is to carry out servicing and complex repairs to heavy commercial vehicle equipment which includes trucks, trailers and tankers and auxiliary equipment.
