WHERE IT ALL STARTED.
From a single truck to one of South Africa’s leading transport companies — Hestony Transport is a proudly homegrown success story, built on vision, grit, and a relentless commitment to service excellence.
In 1987, our journey began with just one Mercedes-Benz truck and a big dream. At the time, founder Etuan van der Westhuizen was a University of Pretoria student working part-time at a local butchery. The butcher frequently expressed frustration over the lack of reliable refrigerated transport for meat carcasses, and that sparked an idea.
With an eye for opportunity and a strong entrepreneurial spirit, Etuan used his student loan, intended to fund his Honours degree, to purchase his first truck. His decision didn’t come without resistance, his mother burst into tears, and his father urged him to return the money. But his grandparents saw the potential.
In fact, Hester and Anthony Greyling not only supported his vision, they even paid for the truck’s sign-writing. On one condition: the new business name had to include their names. And so, HESTONY TRANSPORT was born — combining Hester (“star”) and Anthony (“worthy of praise”).
Within a year, Etuan repaid the loan and officially launched his first contract with the very butcher who had unknowingly inspired the idea

More than three decades later, Hestony Transport has grown into a powerhouse in the Southern African logistics industry, operating a fleet of over
1000 vehicles.
With a head office in Bloemfontein and major depots in Johannesburg,
Cape Town and Kariega, we are strategically positioned to meet the regions
diverse transport needs - from refrigerated goods to agricultural products.
Still under the leadership of Etuan van der Westhuizen, Hestony remains a privately owned company built on the values of integrity, reliability, and
partnership.
