JOB PURPOSE:

The main purpose of the job is to carry out servicing and complex repairs to heavy commercial vehicle equipment which includes trucks, trailers and tankers and auxiliary equipment. This may include but is not limited to drivetrain components, suspensions, intermediate to advanced electrical and air braking systems, hydraulics and pneumatics.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The POD Clerk is responsible for processing and collecting all administrative duties related to proof of delivery documentation, driver trip sheets, and associated post documentation.   • Retrieve and filter incoming post documentation and sort accordingly.

  • Monitor transport schedules, routes, and traffic patterns to optimize delivery times and minimize delays.
  • Support the tracking and documentation of cargo and equipment movement, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Communicate with drivers to relay information regarding route adjustments, load requirements, or safety protocols.
  • Aid in managing the 24/7 shift scheduling of drivers, ensuring adequate coverage and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Analyze operational data to identify areas for improvement in efficiency and resource utilization.
  • Conduct initial issue resolution for any operational or logistical challenges that may arise.
  • Work alongside the operations management team to support and develop emergency protocols and response plans.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • National Matric Certificate (Grade 12).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
